Born in Lagos as Olufemi Sanyaolu, Keziah Jones grew up in an environment steeped in traditional choirs, American soul, and Nigerian cultural effervescence. From an early age, he was influenced by the aura of Fela Kuti, a major figure in Afrobeat, whose commitment and artistic audacity would nourish his own vision. However, it was in London, then Paris, that he refined his musical identity.
