On Thursday 5 February, the Chapito stage at CASINO 2000 was transformed into a cross-border playground. With his show ‘France vs Luxembourg’, Julien Strelzyk took on a challenge that was as daring as it was entertaining: to make French and Luxembourgish audiences laugh in the same theatre… at their own clichés.
In front of nearly 500 spectators, the comedian orchestrated a good-natured ‘match’ between the two sides. With playful banter, spontaneous reactions and shared laughter, the evening found its rhythm in a subtle balance between mockery and kindness. It was a constant back-and-forth between cultures, just like the border he has been observing and recounting for years.
Humour fuelled by experience and observation
In France vs Luxembourg, Julien Strelzyk draws on everyday realities: border residents, morning traffic jams, differences in language, mentality and attitudes to money. These are all familiar topics to the audience, approached with a clear-eyed view and genuine affection.
Among the highlights of the evening, the opening with the national anthems immediately set the tone, as did the delightful parallels between geography, economics and cultural identity. These local references particularly resonated with the Luxembourgish audience.

Surprises on stage and a highly anticipated recording
The evening also featured several surprise appearances. Actor Luc Schiltz, the iconic face of the Capitani series, made a cameo appearance during the show, followed by singer Mike Ross, who was invited to perform Luxembourg, a song celebrating a festive and welcoming country.
This evening had a very special dimension: the show was recorded at CASINO 2000 for upcoming broadcast on RTL Infos and RTL Play. It was a more intense evening than usual for the artist, but one that was carried off with great success.
