Bollywood Masala – the spicy new musical straight from the city of cinema: Bombay.

Created by Toby Gough, the award-winning writer and director of The Fabulous Story of Bollywood and Taj Express – both choreographed by sister stars Vaibhavi and Shruti Merchant. The show will be packed with upbeat dances, colourful costumes, epic romance, comedy, and all the hit songs from your favourite Bollywood films like Devdas, Lagaan, Dhoom, and the Oscar-winning song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the film RRR.

The dancers have been selected from the best Bollywood dance troupes and have danced alongside film legends such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan.
Bollywood Masala tells the story of a famous Indian chef, the Maharaja of Masala, Mr Kari Balti, who invented́ the concept of on-location catering at the time when the film industry begań.

‘Bollywood’ is a term created from the words “Bombay” and ‘Hollywood’ and represents the world’s most successful film industry.
‘Masala’ is the term used for a curry sauce made from a magical blend of spices. It is also the word used to describe Bollywood films, which mix action, comedy, romance and melodrama, while ‘Masala music’ is a blend of Indian and Western styles.

Cinema and gastronomy are two of India’s greatest gifts to the world, and Bollywood Masala combines the two in this unique and colourful new show.
